About the BellaOnline Breast Cancer Editor
Gail Armanini
Hello, and welcome to the BellaOnline Breast Cancer Site. I am honored to serve as your Breast Cancer Editor and look forward to creating a site that offers up to the minute information as well as being a warm and safe place to stop by and share your stories of experience, strength and hope with others who care. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and will help me meet your needs in the best ways possible.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July of 2007 and learned, as those of you who are fighting this disease know, that the diagnosis of breast cancer changes your life forever. Now, with my perspective from the “other side,” as a survivor, I can honestly say having cancer gave me back my life. To many people, that’s an odd way to look at the situation! It doesn’t mean that everything is perfect now, or that I experienced some sort of “divine miracle” during the course of my treatment. Far from it. There are physical issues from the cancer that will be with me forever, and changes had to be made in my lifestyle that were very disappointing. But I also discovered an inner strength and sense of gratitude that I wasn’t in touch with before cancer, and those are the things I try to hold onto now.
There is no cure for breast cancer, but that doesn´t mean we are helpless victims, either. We can choose to learn new ways to manage our lifestyles to focus on optimum health and healing; we can step up as advocates and make our voices heard where they can make a difference; and we can find strength and guidance from each other. My goal in serving as your Editor is to help empower each and every visitor to meet their challenge with courage, dignity and hope.
