Love steak? Who knew that there are so many ways to prepare mouthwatering steaks? Steak and Cake: More Than 100 Recipes to Make Any Meal a Smash Hit by Elizabeth Karmel is absolutely the best cookbook on everything steak (and cake).

Included in this book are two excellent chapters for those who want to prepare steak and cake and home. The steak primer has pictures of steak cuts and explains how to purchase, store, and cook the meat. This is one of the best primers that can be found in any cookbook. There is another primer on cake, and it is full of not only basic recipes, but also hints on mixing, baking, and frosting. Both of these chapters are good enough that they alone make it worth purchasing the book.

However, the recipes for both the steak and cake are mouthwatering, and the biggest problem will be deciding what kind of steak to serve tonight, and which cake to make for dessert. The recipes are incredible, and any meat eater will want to own this excellent cookbook. For that matter, any cake eater will want to own this excellent cookbook.

Besides beautiful, delectable steaks, there are recipes for steak sandwiches, kabobs, stroganoff, and tacos. The book also includes recipes for side dishes, including salads, relishes, accompaniments, and vegetable dishes. The cakes include layer cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and rolled cakes.

The photographs are beautiful, and very tempting. Favorite recipes include First-Place Smoked and Charred Tenderloin, Skirt Steak with Chile-Lime Rub and Crunchy Jicama Slaw, and Bob's Steak Au Poivre with French Onion Croutons. Cakes in the queue are Anthony's Grandmother's Earthquake Cake, Double-Dutch Chocolate Guinness Bundt Cake with Chocolate Guinness Glaze, and Italian Cream Cake.

This is a fun cookbook, and has enough good, easy-to-follow recipes to keep any cook happy for months.
